Grade 2 Learns and Acts on Sustainable Development Goals
Our Grade 2 Monarchians enjoyed a week learning about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They started by watching a video introducing the 17 goals. These goals focus on creating a peaceful, prosperous world while protecting the planet.
Each day, students took part in hands-on activities:
- Day 2: They made a pledge called “Helping Hands for the Earth” using hand prints. This showed their promise to care for the planet.
- Day 3: For “Life Below Sea,” they used fish cutouts and plastic waste to learn about ocean pollution and saving sea life.
- Day 4: Students created posters titled “Save Energy, Save Earth.” This helped promote clean energy and responsible use of resources. They also shared their posters in a show-and-tell.
- Day 5: To finish the week, students took a fun Kahoot quiz. This helped them review all the SDGs.
These activities taught kindness, responsibility, and care for the environment. They helped our Monarchians become aware global citizens.
