The online Mathematics Continuous Professional Development (CPD) session, led by Mr. Varun Goel on August 28, 2025, focused on elevating math assessment, attended by middle and secondary school teachers. Mr. Goel, a highly experienced educationalist and math faculty member at Shiv Nadar School, Gurugram, delivered insightful strategies for smart evaluation and innovative assessment formation in mathematics.
The teachers from grade 5 to 12 learnt to design math assessments that measure deeper learning and analytical skills, rather than just correct answers. The workshop specifically focused on Bloom’s Taxonomy, integrating its hierarchical approach to cognitive skills into mathematics assessment design for middle and secondary school teachers. Interactive sessions highlighted practical techniques such as formative assessment, open-ended questions, real-life problem scenarios, and reflective evaluation. Teachers were engaged in collaborative discussions to share classroom practices and develop actionable plans for integrating these strategies into their own teaching.

The session enabled educators to gain fresh perspectives on advancing mathematics instruction, nurturing independent thinkers, and fostering a growth mindset in students. All the math teachers appreciated Mr. Goel’s ability to connect theory with real classroom scenarios, making complex concepts accessible and actionable. Teachers from grades 5 to 12 expressed their heartfelt thanks, grateful to have experienced the workshop that equipped them with new methods and resources to elevate student engagement and improve assessment practices in math. Mr. Varun Goel’s workshop was a significant contribution to professional learning for math educators, supporting the ongoing shift toward thoughtful evaluation and transformative classroom practices.
